Ferret
Parenting Class: Aimed primarily at people who are interested in
becoming "fuzzy parents", but also for those who are new to
the world of ferreteering
and are having a few problems. This class covers all aspects
of ferret care, from
litterbox and nip training to nutritional needs and health
care, proper cage size and
accessories, as well as "ferretproofing" your home.
Operation
Outreach: Based on the Big Brother/Sister
program, this is a
one-on-one system of matching people who are having specific
problems with
someone experienced in that particular area, who then works
with them to help resolve
their concerns...and also includes on-site visits.
Ferret Support
Group: Aimed primarily at those with senior,
handicapped, and ill
ferrets, the focus is to share up to date information
regarding the care of our "special
kids", with a special focus on what's new in ferret
medicine. Also to provide emotional
support for ferret parents dealing with these special needs
kids.
Lost Ferret
Hotline: Where do you go for help when your
ferret decides to go
AWOL? Trying to wade through the different animal controls
and wherever they take
found critters can get complicated, especially since they all
seem to have different
rules, regluations, and impounds. Our "lost ferret experts"
who have been there
themselves have an extensive list to give owners the best
chance of finding their
wandering furkid.
Ferret Friendly Apartment
Referrals: One of the top three reasons
ferretkids
come into our shelter are landlords who say NO to ferrets.
We have a growing list of
landlords who say YES.
We currently have no apartments to list. If you have any to share, please email us at luvfuzzies@aol.com
Veterinarian Referrals: Finding a vet who had a clue about ferret medicine was
a nightmare when we started out in the world of
ferreteering. Things really haven't
improved much. Trying to find a ferret knowledgeable vet can
still be a problem. Our
referral list is compiled of vets we know and trust.

Dook
University: Our newest program was formed for
those who consider
"continuing education" a way of life. An in-depth study
group for those who want to
know all they can about the best and most up to date
methods to care for their furkids. Currently covering medical issues,
these meetings are being held monthly when possible, usually on a Sunday
afternoon. There is a primary topic (such as adrenal disease) and we'll
touch on related subjects, plus time for the class to exchhange experiences and
information. Check out the goings on page for
current information. Classes open only to club/shelter members.
